Champions Open Beta Launches…sorta

The Champions Online beta was supposed to launch yesterday, and technically it did, though it seems it already hit its first MMO snag so early out of the gate. It seems after downloading the game from File Planet the patching process stalls, a number of times, requiring you to either restart, edit a configuration file, or just sit there and wait, and wait, and wait. As of this writing it seems the patching is picking up speed but on the official forums there have been users patching up to 70% only to be waiting hours for the last 30% to finish. So who knows how far I’ll get along.

Cam and I have been trying to download and patch Champions Online since last night, once we do actually get in we’ll be bringing you loads of impressions and screenshots. These things are, unfortauntely, to be expected in any MMO, especially during the beta time. I’m sure Cryptic is working non-stop to get this open beta running in full swing. Until then, we play the waiting game.
